Today I had the  thrill of going behind the scenes of Cirque du Soleil “OVO” playing now through January 2, 2011 at Atlantic Station.  Marie-Claude was my guide taking me inside the Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) to watch rehearsal.  Constant training and rehearsing make perfect.  The performers for the OVO road show have been training non stop for 1-2 years depending on their hire date.  Andrew Corbett, the Artistic assistant,  met me backstage and then turned me over to Steve Armstrong, head of wardrobe who applied the official Cirque du Soleil makeup to create the face of a Cricket! 

6 layers later (including lots of finishing powder–seen in my hair,) the finished face matches the $16,000 costume of a Cricket seen in the production of OVO.

And then I tried on the super powered Cricket legs ($2,000)

chocolate covered would be nice!

The “F-1” of Trampolines which allow training for Crickets to jump over 20-25 feet in the air!

20 year veteran Karl L’Écuyer introduced me to the trampoline and taught me to jump like a cricket! (and make a face like one!!)
