Over the weekend I was sent a link to a video on Instagram. I watched it and when it ended another “suggested” video came up. A super talented dude dancing and lipsyncing perfection to all these great dance hits. The kicker? He’s a UPS employee!!!!
Joe “Russell” Butler is the viral sensation that all started during Covid. His first uploaded video garnered over 3.5 million views and from that moment on, the vibe began. But life wasn’t always filled with happiness. Joe lost his best friend to suicide, then both his parents passed on to Heaven and Joe’s life sank into a state of depression. Darkness and addiction set in and years later he divorced. When he reached rock bottom and was close to taking his own life, actually sitting on the bed with gun loaded.
“I can’t even explain what happened.. in that moment I literally cried out to God…there was a light that went off inside of me…you are worth so much more than where you are right now. You’re going to get through this and when you do, you’re going to show millions of people how to get through this.” He’s even written a book “Battling Depression: Winning the War in Our Minds” about his experiences to further help others. “find your divine purpose in this life, and put one foot in front of the other until you’ve arrived at your destiny. Along the way, really stop and see all of God’s glory in the trees, the blue sky, the birds chirping, and in all the love that surrounds you.”
Joe, a former personal trainer now UPS driver in Texas, has turned his life around and is delivering smiles and joy to millions through his platforms on INSTAGRAM and TIK-TOK. Joe dances everywhere! Gas stations, parks, stores, restaurants and anywhere he feels moved. My personal favorite videos are him dancing while working at UPS. His UPS truck is the perfect setting for great dance moves and the large steel sliding door comes in handy as a prop sometimes as if the curtain was opening on his stage.
Joe has appeared on the nationally syndicated Sherri Shepherd TV show, News Nation, and other TV-RADIO-PODCASTS.
Life is a journey. Through the storms come the rainbows. Put down your devices, unplug for some fresh air, walk barefoot in the grass and ground yourself on the earth’s healing power of the 7.83 Hz in your body…then dance like Joe and celebrate being alive!
